The Office of the City Solicitor is responsible for management of the legal affairs of the City and providing legal advice and assistance to the Mayor, Councillors and staff. The Office of the City Solicitor consists of three divisions – Legal Services, Claims Administration, and Real Estate Services.

Legal Services
The Legal Services Division is comprised of the City Solicitor and Two Legal Counsel with shared support staff.  This division is responsible for managing the legal affairs of the City, representing the City in legal matters, and providing legal advice to Council and City departments.

Claims Administration
The Claims Division is comprised of one Senior Claims Officer who is responsible for processing liability claims made against the City including claims investigation, determination of liability, settlement negotiations, etc.

Real Estate Services
The Real Estate Services Division is comprised of the Manager of Real Estate Services and a Paralegal.  This division is responsible for the acquisition and disposal of interests in real property and the provision of advice to Council and staff on a variety of real estate and valuation issues.
