St. John's Municipal Plan 2003

The St. John's Municipal Plan sets out the St. John's Municipal Council's policies for planning, use, and future development of land. The Municipal Plan uses text and maps to guide the use of all land and property in the City of St. John’s, both privately and publicly owned, in the overall interest of the City and its residents. The Plan examines residential, commercial, industrial, open space, institutional, agricultural and other land uses, and protects environmentally valuable areas, coastal lands and heritage areas.

The current Municipal Plan was approved by Council in 2003 under the authority of the Newfoundland and Labrador Urban and Rural Planning Act. It has been amended from time to time since then.

On July 2, 2014 Council released a new draft plan, Envision St. John's. This plan is still in the development phase and to be finalized and approved in 2015.
