Mayors Advisory Committee on Seniors

Mandate:
 
To consider issues specific to seniors referred to it by Council, staff and members of the seniors community.  In doing so, the Committee may make recommendations to Council on matters and policies deemed to directly affect senior citizens within the City of St. John’s.
 
Roles/Functions:
 
In exercising its mandate, the Committee will carry out the following roles/functions:

  1. Further enhance the lines of communication between seniors, seniors serving agencies and the City of St. John’s.
  2. Provide advice on City policies and programs that affect seniors, e.g. recreation, housing, access to services, healthy aging, etc.;
  3. Engage in outreach to the seniors community to disseminate information and encourage seniors participation in civic activities; and
  4. Act as a forum for feedback from seniors on civic matters that directly affect their daily lives.
