Youth Programs

The Recreation Division is pleased to offer youth in St. John's, ages 12 to 18 years, a variety of quality programs and services for general interest, leisure, and physical activity. Transportation will only be provided for camps at Rotary 'Sunshine' Park.

Youth Summer 2022 Programs

Workshops

Beginner Youth, Yoga and Mindfulness
Designed for youth of all fitness levels to learn a solid foundation of yoga practice. Must have their own mat. Includes yoga and mindfulness meanings, breathing exercises, yoga sequences, guided meditation, and fun games.

Youth Coding
Learn to code and problem solve alongside skilled Brilliant Lab instructors. Build and program robots, learn to program video games, build websites and much more.

Youth Outdoor Cooking
Tired of eating the same old camp food? Outdoor instructors will teach you how to prepare a menu, set up your cooking space and cook nutritious meals over the camp stove. We will discuss different stoves and fuel types as we cook a shared meal on a variety of stoves. All equipment provided.

Explore Art
Explore your artistic abilities by joining us for a creative week of hands-on activities such as painting, sketching, origami, drum circles, and much more.

Leadership and Volunteering

X-Cellent Leader
X-CELLENT Leader is a fun and interactive program with a focus on team dynamics and inclusion, self-esteem building and leadership skills.

Junior Volunteer Recreation Leader
Designed to provide junior high and high school aged youth with a workplace educational experience where participants are exposed to the daily routine of our caring recreation practitioners. Each participant will be mentored and exposed to the duties associated with being employed as a Recreation Leader. The program prides itself in providing a fun filed atmosphere designed to challenge youth by developing self-respect and a sense of camaraderie through team building.

Youth Expeditions

Youth Move It
Youth Move It is designed to get youth moving in a variety of different ways. Participants can expect to get on the water engaging in paddling activities, play additional camp games, sports, and a variety of other fun activities to get them moving while having fun!
