Animal Control Officers Appreciation Week 2014

The City of St. John’s is celebrating Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, April 13 to April 19, 2014. A number of events are planned throughout the week.
 
“Our Humane Services staff are dedicated to providing a high quality services that, above all, protects the animals in our community,” said Deputy Mayor Ron Ellsworth, Chair of the Animal Care and Control Committee. “They are to be applauded for their commitment to animal safety and their efforts to find good homes for animals in need.”
 
The week’s celebrations begin on Monday, April 14 as Mayor Dennis O’Keefe signs the official proclamation during the City Council meeting.
 
On Wednesday, April 16 the staff is hosting an event beginning at 12 noon in the Humane Services Shelter, 81 Higgins Line. The public are invited to come celebrate with our Animal Control Officers and to meet some of the animals in need of adoption.
 
During this week if you adopt a dog or cat you can get them a companion at no extra charge. 
 
The public are reminded to visit the City’s webpage to see adoptable animals. The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
