Annual Food Drive at City Facilities
From Monday, Nov. 18 to Friday, Nov. 29 the City is holding its annual food drive to collect non-perishable food items in support of the Community Food Sharing Association (CFSA).
This year, City Council approved a $15,000 donation to the CFSA, and staff are collecting food items at city facilities instead of going door to door.
Non-perishable food donations are being collected at City Hall, and at the following community centres: H.G.R. Mews, Paul Reynolds, Kenmount Terrace, Southlands, Kilbride and Shea Heights.
The CFSA stocks food banks throughout the province; commonly needed items include:
- Canned Soup & Stew
- Peanut Butter
- Canned Beans
- Macaroni & Cheese
- Dried Pasta, Noodles & Rice
- Pasta Sauce
- Canned Meat & Fish
- Beans & Legumes
- Canned Vegetables & Fruit
- Canned/Powdered Milk
- Breakfast Cereal
- Baking Supplies
Since the City of St. John's first food drive in 2014, residents have donated approximately 500,000 pounds of non-perishable food to the Community Food Sharing Association.
