Canada Day and Memorial Day Holiday City Schedule

Due to the Canada Day and Memorial Day holiday on Sunday, July 1, most City offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, July 2.

Please note the following exceptions:

  • All recreation facilities will be open on Monday.
  • The outdoor pools at Bannerman Park and Bowring Park will be open starting on Monday, July 2; the splash pads will be in operation 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Pool schedules are available online.
  • Garbage and recycling will not be picked up on Monday; please see schedule below.
  • Parking meter regulations will be enforced as Monday is not a Shops Closing holiday.
  • The Visitor Information Centre at 348 Water Street will be open on Monday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Memorial Day Parade and Service
The Royal Canadian Legion Newfoundland and Labrador Memorial Day Parade will begin at the Sergeants’ Memorial on Queens Road at 9:50 a.m. The Memorial Day ceremony takes places at 10:45 a.m. at the National War Memorial. Road Closures and No Stopping - Tow Away Zones
For safety reasons there will be multiple road closures and no stopping zones throughout the City to facilitate Memorial Day and Canada Day events. Traffic advisories are posted on the City’s website, or you can sign up for e-Updates.
