Cruise Performers Wanted

Friday, April 11, 2014 - 11:30 AM

The City of St. John’s is currently seeking applications from members of the local arts community for cultural performance programs that can be delivered to cruise ship visitors. These performances will be designed to showcase St. John’s culture and heritage to visiting tourists through song, dance and musical performance.

“Cruise ship visits have a very positive economic impact on the City” said Mayor Dennis O’Keefe, who also chairs the Cruise St. John’s Committee. “We are projecting a record season in 2014 in both ship visits and passengers, with 22 ships booked into port this year bringing over 33,000 visitors to the City.”

Cruise St. John’s partners plan special activities for all cruise visitors and these performances will enhance their experience in the port city.

Applications must be submitted in accordance with the Terms of Reference, which can be obtained by calling (709) 576-2315, by e-mailing tourismdevelopment@stjohns.ca or from the City of St. John’s website www.stjohns.ca under forms and applications – Arts and Culture. The deadline for submission of applications is 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
