Mayor Dennis O’Keefe is pleased to announce the 2017 cruise season begins on Monday, June 5 with the arrival of the Ocean Endeavour.

“We are pleased to welcome the Ocean Endeavour back to the Port City of St. John's to begin the 2017 cruise ship season,” said Mayor Dennis O’Keefe. “This year we are scheduled to host 36 ship visits and an estimated 45, 977 passengers and crew. This represents a 74 per cent increase in passengers and crew over the 2016 season, which we recently learned through the Business Research and Economic Advisors report on the ‘Economic Contribution of the International Cruise Industry in Canada’ had a total economic impact, direct and indirect, on St. John’s of $5,717,000.”

There are seven inaugural ship visits to the Port of St. John’s this year and two of those, the Mein Schieff 6 and Disney Magic, will receive the Freedom of the Seaport through a dockside ceremony, as they are the first ships from their cruise lines to visit St. John’s.

A full list of all the cruise ships which will be coming to port this season can be found on the City of St. John’s website.
