Discovery Day Holiday City Schedule

Due to the Discovery Day holiday on Monday, June 23 all City offices and some facilities will be closed. This includes:

  • City Hall
  • Access St. John’s front counter
  • Animal Care and Adoption Centre

The City Council meeting will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24.
 
Most City services are unaffected by the Discovery Day holiday, including:
 
Waste collection will proceed as normal beginning at 8 a.m.; garbage collection in areas 1A & 1B and recycling collection in area 1A.
 
The Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility is open for commercial users of the landfill. The Residential Drop Off is closed as it is regularly closed on Mondays.
 
Parking meter regulations will be enforced as Discovery Day is not a recognized holiday under the provincial Shops Closing Act.
 
Recreation facilities will be open and offer regularly scheduled programming. The parking lot at the Wedgewood Park Recreation Centre is limited during the construction of the new recreation centre.
 
The Visitor Information Centre at 348 Water Street will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is now open for the season, 7 days a week. The Visitor Information Desk at the Quidi Vidi Village Plantation, 10 Maple View Road, will be closed as the Plantation is closed every Monday.
 
The Access St. John’s Call Centre is available to residents 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
