Emergency Preparedness Week is May 5 to 11, this year’s theme is ‘Be Emergency Ready’.

Everyone has a role to play in being prepared for an emergency. The City of St. John’s joins all levels of government and safety organizations to encourage residents to take concrete action to be better prepared.

  • Know the risks – knowing the risks specific to your neighborhood, community and region can help you better prepare.
  • Make a plan – a plan will help you and your family know what to do.
  • Get an emergency kit – during an emergency you may need to survive without power or tap water. Be prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours in an emergency.

Talk to your family about making a plan today. Visit www.GetPrepared.ca for further information.

The best time to prepare for a disaster is now.
