Mayor Dennis O’Keefe, Chair of Cruise St. John’s, is pleased to announce that the City will host four more cruise ship visits this week: the AIDAluna on Sept. 9, the Caribbean Princess on Sept 11, the Crystal Symphony on Sept. 12, and the National Geographic Explorer Lindblad Expeditions on Sept. 14.

The AIDAluna, with 2,500 passengers and 607 crew, arrives at 2 p.m. and departs at 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9. Its 16 day ‘Transamerica’ tour began in Germany and included stops in Norway, Iceland and Greenland before reaching St. John’s. The voyage will continue to Halifax before it ends in New York City.

The Caribbean Princess, with 3,592 passengers and 1,200 crew, arrives at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 and departs at 5 p.m. Beginning in Southampton, England, the ship has travelled to Ireland, Scotland, Iceland and Greenland on the way to St. John’s. This Princess ship will be the largest cruise ship to visit during the 2013 season.

“One can see the diversity of the cruise lines attracted to St. John’s as a port of call”, states Mayor O’Keefe, “Expedition cruise ships to mainstream and luxury are all visiting this week.”

The Crystal Symphony, with 940 passengers and 545 crew, is returning to St. John’s at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 and departs at 10 p.m. The ship was previously in St. John’s on May 30 as part of its ‘New York to Reykjavik’ cruise and is now returning as part of its ‘Transatlantic’ itinerary after visiting England, Scotland and Iceland. When the Crystal Symphony leaves St. John’s it will continue to Halifax before finishing in Boston.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, the National Geographic Explorer Lindblad Expeditions, with 150 passengers and 70 crew, will be making its return visit to the City, arriving at 8 a.m. and departing at 5 p.m. Since its last visit the Expedition travelled to L’Anse aux Meadows, Gros Morne, Quebec and Nova Scotia. St. John’s is also the final stop on the itinerary, where many passengers will stay overnight before flying home.

The full cruise schedule is available on the City's website.
