Automated Garbage Truck picking up a cart

Phase one of the City’s new automated garbage collection program has been in place since June 11, 2018.  To date, more than 99 per cent of households serviced by the new system are following the program rules and regulations for the safe and effective removal of garbage.  Those residents not in compliance have been reminded through written notice the importance of ensuring all garbage is contained within the cart when placed at the curb.

As of July 3, 2018, overfilled carts or excess garbage placed outside of the cart will not be collected. Residents are asked to please email curbit@stjohns.ca or to call the Access Centre at 311 or 754-CITY (2489) to discuss collection options or to talk with an expert about reducing your waste.

The City thanks residents in the first phase for following the rules and regulations for automated collection and appreciates efforts made to ensure this program is a success.
