Grind and Patch Downtown Beginning at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, August 23, 2017 - 3:15 PM
Grind and patch work on water street

Due to expected rain for Thursday night into Friday morning, paving crews will begin the overnight grind and patch on Water Street and Duckworth Street at 7 p.m. this evening, until 7 a.m. Thursday morning.

Meters for affected parking stalls will be bagged this afternoon and any vehicles left parked at bagged meters after 10 p.m. will be towed.

Flagpersons will be in place to maintain traffic flow in both directions. Motorists will be diverted to adjacent streets for short time periods as required. The City of St. John's apologizes for any inconvenience.

Typically road construction, including grind and patch, can occur from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Recently City Council approved a pilot project allowing night time road construction between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. to occur in the downtown area for this project only, in addition to the regular daytime hours.

Alternate parking options include parking garages at 10 New Gower Street (City Hall), 351 Water Street, 330 Duckworth Street (Metro Park), and 215 Water Street (Atlantic Place), and the parking lot on Harbour Drive west near the Neal Building.
