Crossing lakes and ponds can be hazardous at the best of times. Crossing our watershed source waters in winter is even riskier due to changing water levels underneath the ice.

Be safe and protect yourself, and for the safety and quality of your drinking water do not undertake recreational activities such as skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling on our drinking water source areas.

Windsor Lake and Broad Cove River, Bay Bulls Big Pond, and Petty Harbour Long Pond provide the water used by St. John's, Mount Pearl, Paradise, Conception Bay South and Portugal Cove - St. Philip's.
