Metered Parking Limited on Harbour Drive for Cruise Ship Visits

Tuesday, September 16, 2014 - 10:15 AM

The public is reminded that, during cruise ship visits, parking along Harbour Drive is reduced to accommodate tour buses escorting passengers on excursions. Meters will be bagged in advance of the ship’s arrival to ensure that tour buses and coaches have access to dockside.

September and October are prime cruise season in the City of St. John’s. Thousands of passengers will visit the capital city during this period. Specifically this week, the AIDAbella, arriving Wednesday (Sept. 17) at 2 p.m. has 2,600 passengers and crew, and the Ruby Princess, arriving on Friday (Sept. 19) at 8 a.m., has just over 4,200 passengers and crew. Parking spaces alongside the port must be freed to accommodate transport for the large number of visitors.

The City of St. John’s thanks those who work in and visit the downtown area for their understanding. Metered parking is available on adjacent streets, in Atlantic Place Parking Garage, 351 Water Street and in other lots throughout the downtown.
