Military Road Closure to mid-July

Thursday, June 01, 2017 - 4:00 PM

Beginning 9 a.m. on Monday, June 5 there will be no through traffic on a section of Military Road, from the Bonaventure Avenue and Garrison Hill intersection to the Monkstown Road and Rawlin's Cross intersection.

This section of road will be closed, affecting all through traffic, and is necessary to facilitate upgrades to the concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk, a section of sewer, and to the road structure itself.

A detour will be in place for the anticipated six-week duration of the project, and flagspersons will be on site during construction activities.

Local traffic, including pedestrians, and emergency vehicles will be permitted through the site as necessary. There may be periods of time when this will not be possible – when excavations encompass the width of the road - and in those instances emergency response agencies including SJRFD, RNC and Eastern Health will be notified.

The closure will affect all through traffic including Metrobus, who will have to alter their routes during construction. Metrobus will notify their ridership as necessary.
