Mayor Dennis O’Keefe, Chair of Cruise St. John’s, is pleased to announce that the MS Delphin of Passat Kreuzfahrten cruises will arrive in St. John’s for the first time on Wednesday,  July 24, with 470 passengers and 200 crew.

The MS Delphin is scheduled to arrive at 8 a.m. and will remain in port until 7 p.m. St. John’s is one stop on the ship’s two-week ‘Greenland and Southeastern Canada’ tour, beginning in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, travelling transatlantic to St. John’s and then continuing on to include port calls in Sydney, St. Anthony, Hamilton Inlet and Hebron before returning to Greenland.

“A ship’s first visit to St. John’s is a particularly special one,” says Mayor O’Keefe. “The passengers of the MS Delphin will be greeted by our award-winning dockside welcome, including Newfoundland and Labrador dogs, City of St. John’s Ambassadors, and Newfoundland music from some of our finest local performers.”

The Mayor will also present The Freedom of the Seaport, during an onboard ceremony with the Captain.

The 16,214-ton, 156-metre-long MS Delphin was built in 1975, remodeled in 1993, and first sailed under the Passat Kreuzfahrten name in 2012. Passengers aboard the MS Delphin enjoy a wide array of facilities including a sauna, fitness centre, boutique, beauty centre and even a library. During their stay passengers will also have many opportunities to take excursions that showcase the City’s history and the province’s marine life.
