The City of St. John’s, with the support of Husky Energy, is pleased to present the Music at Harbourside Lunchtime Concert Series again this year.

“We are delighted to have Husky Energy on board as a corporate sponsor this year and are very grateful they have partnered with us to provide residents of the City with free live entertainment every Friday,” says Deputy Mayor Shannie Duff, Chair of the Arts Advisory Committee. “Music at Harbourside has been a labour of love for the Arts Advisory Committee since its inception and we are thrilled to bring it back again this year.”

The concerts kick off Friday, July 5, and take place every Friday in July and August, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., in Harbourside Park on Water Street in downtown St. John’s. The concerts provide residents and visitors with a unique opportunity to hear local musicians against the backdrop of our historic harbour, its famous Narrows and the Southside Hills.

“The Harbourside Lunchtime Concert Series is a highlight of our summer season every year in St. John’s,” says Ward 3 Councillor Bruce Tilley, Chair of the Economic Development and Tourism Standing Committee. “I hope residents and visitors will come down every Friday to hear some of the great musical talent this City has to offer in one of the most beautiful settings in the City.”

Each concert opens with a youth performer, coordinated through a partnership with the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society. These opening acts and our headliners showcase the incredible and diverse musical talent the City has to offer. Many different musical styles will also be featured throughout the summer including jazz, blues, folk, pop and more.

“As one of the members of the committee who selects the performers I have to say that every year I am more and more impressed with our musical community and the wide variety of performers we have here locally,” says Councillor at Large Sandy Hickman. “The talent we have in our City is amazing and I encourage everyone to take advantage of these free family-friendly events.”
