Official Call for Nominations Begins August 22

The nomination period for the upcoming Municipal Election, September 26, 2017, begins on August 22, 2017.

The official nomination period ends August 29, 2017 at 4 p.m.

Nominations must be in writing and state the name and residence of the candidate and be signed by the proposer and seconder.
A person is qualified to be nominated as a candidate if he or she is:

  • A Canadian Citizen, 18 years of age or older and eligible to vote in an election in the City of St. John’s
  • Not in arrears of taxes or other charges payable to the municipality of St. John’s
  • Ordinarily a resident in the City of St. John’s for a period of 30 days before the commencement of the nomination period (July 22) or resident in an area that, on Election Day, is part of the City of St. John’s.

If they have not done so already, nominees are requested to contact the City Election Office at 576-8269 to arrange an appointment for their nomination.
