The tender for construction work to realign Polina Road intersection with the Avalon Mall is posted on the City’s website. As part of this tender the City is also upgrading the Kenmount Road trunk storm sewer with construction expected to begin in June and be completed in the fall.

“This project has been on our radar for many years and I am pleased to see that it will be completed in 2018,” said Mayor Danny Breen.

As information becomes available the public can learn about the construction work and anticipated impacts on traffic by visiting engagestjohns.ca.

“The safety of motorists and pedestrians in the area will be significantly improved once the intersection is realigned,” said Councillor Debbie Hanlon, Council Lead for Transportation.

During construction traffic on Kenmount Road will be maintained however some disruptions and slow downs are expected. The city will make every effort to minimize interruptions and to maintain traffic flow, especially during peak rush hour.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during construction and we ask the public to obey and follow all posted signage in and near the construction zone.

A traffic advisory will be issued prior to construction starting on Kenmount Road in June.
