St. George's Day City Schedule

Due to the St. George’s Day holiday on Monday, April 22, all City offices will be closed. The regularly scheduled Monday night City Council meeting will now take place on Tuesday, April 23.

Recreation Facilities
On Monday, April 22, the Shea Heights Community Centre and Kilbride Lion’s Community Centre will remain open, however the H.G.R. Mews Community Centre, Wedgewood Park Recreation Centre and St. John’s Recreation Centre (Buckmaster’s Circle) will be closed for the day.

Parking
Residents are advised that although some businesses and institutions are closed to observe the St. George's Day holiday on Monday, April 22, it is not a shop closing holiday under the Provincial Shop Closing Act. The City's Parking Meter Regulations are in effect and Parking Enforcement Officers will be on duty to enforce the regulations.

Garbage and Recycling Collection
Garbage and recycling collection is unaffected by the holiday on Monday, April 22 and there will be regular garbage (areas 1A and 1B) and recycling (1B) collection during this time. Residents are also reminded that garbage and recyclables are not permitted to be put out for collection before 6 a.m. and must be put out by 8 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. As of April 1, all garbage put to the curb must be completely covered with a bin, net or blanket.

Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility
The landfill at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility will be open for commercial users during regular hours of operation from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 22.

The Residential Drop-Off at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility is regularly closed on Mondays. It is open to serve residents of the Eastern Region of the province every week from Tuesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. excluding holidays.

Visitor and Business Information Centres
The Visitor and Business Information Centres at 348 Water Street are closed for St. George’s Day.

The Access St. John’s Call Centre is always open and residents with questions or concerns can call 311.
