St. John's Celebrates National Youth Week

The City of St. John's celebrates National Youth Week from May 1 to 7 with several free-of-charge events. National Youth Week recognizes youth and their active participation in the community whether it is through theatre, recreation, sport, art, volunteering, leadership or community engagement.

Proclamation of Youth Week – Monday, April 30
2018 Youth of the Year award winners Emily Dormody (Junior) and Liam Warren (Senior) will attend the City Council meeting on Monday, April 30 as the Deputy Mayor officially proclaims National Youth Week in the City of St. John’s.

Youth Art Exhibit Opening Reception – Tuesday, May 1
Everyone is invited to the opening reception of more than 120 pieces of art produced by St. John’s youth from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Great Hall, City Hall. The reception is free to attend and live entertainment is provided by youth performer Paige Penney.
The exhibit is on display in the Great Hall until Monday, May 7.

Carnival – Wednesday, May 2
Youth ages 12 to 18 are invited to the Paul Reynolds Community Centre, 35 Carrick Drive, for a free Carnival from 6:30 to 8 p.m. with inflatables and games from Sky High Amusements, a magician, giant sized games, prizes and much more!

Swims – Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6
Youth up to age 18 are invited to swim for free at indoor pools:
Saturday, May 5, noon to 12:50 p.m., Paul Reynolds Community Centre
Sunday, May 6, 4:30 to 5:20 p.m., H.G.R Mews Community Centre
