Taxi Companies Volunteering to Support Residents in Need

Tuesday, January 21, 2020 - 6:15 AM

Today, some taxi companies and drivers are volunteering to provide free rides to seniors and people with disabilities. The city has reached out to local taxi operators and the following companies are offering this service for residents in need:

Bugdens Taxi
City Wide Taxi
Gullivers
Independent Taxi
Jiffy Cabs
Newfound Cabs
Red and Yellow Cabs

There are a limited number of taxis available as this service is for supporting people who can't get to the store otherwise.

Pharmacies and all stores selling basic foods, such as supermarkets, convenience stores, and pharmacies are permitted to open today, January 21, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in St. John’s. This excludes bars, restaurants, fast food chains and outlets.

Vehicles are permitted to drive to and from the store to get urgent supplies. When travelling please use extreme caution, carpool when possible and watch for pedestrians if you are driving.
