AIDA cruise line ship docking in St. John's

Mayor Dennis O’Keefe, Chairman of Cruise St. John’s, is pleased to announce the arrival of two cruise ships on Wednesday, Sept. 18. German cruise line AIDA has brought other ships to St. John’s in the past, and brings its newest ship AIDAbella to St. John’s on its inaugural voyage. The Sea Adventurer sails to St. John’s for the first time as part of Adventure Canada’s annual Greenland and Wild Labrador voyage.

“We are extremely delighted to welcome back cruise lines AIDA and Adventure Canada to our port,” says Mayor O’Keefe. “These visits are extra special because they are bringing these ships here for the first time. It’s an exciting day when we have two ships on their inaugural visit to our port.”

AIDA Cruises’ AIDAbella, carrying 2,050 passengers and 640 crew members, arrives at noon and departs at 8 p.m. The visit to St. John’s is part of an 18-day Transamerica Voyage from Sept. 5 to 23. The cruise began in Germany, visiting Norway, Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland before St. John’s. When AIDAbella departs St. John’s it journeys on to Nova Scotia and finally New York. As this is an inaugural visit the AIDAbella will be part of a Harbour Symphony arranged by Sound Symposium as it departs at 8 p.m.

Adventure Canada’s Sea Adventurer, with 118 passengers and 72 crew members, will be in port following visits to Greenland, Quebec and several Labrador ports. Its passengers disembark with new passengers embarking for a nine day cruise circumnavigating Newfoundland. The Sea Adventurer returns to St. John’s on September 27.

The full cruise schedule is available on the City's website.
