Update on City Facilities and Waste Collection

Sunday, January 26, 2020 - 9:15 AM

On Monday, Jan. 27, all City facilities will open as scheduled and resume operations. This includes City Hall, all recreation facilities and parks, and the Visitor/Business Information Centre.

Garbage and Recycling curbside collection resumes Monday, Jan. 27 on the regular collection schedule.

  • Residents in Areas 1-4 (Monday to Thursday collection) are allowed to place up to four additional bags outside of their cart this week only.
  • Residents in Area 5 (Fridays) will be allowed to place up to eight additional bags, due to two missed collections, this week only.
  • There is no limit to the number of blue recycling bags put out for collection.
  • Residents in automated cart areas are reminded they are required to use the carts at all times. Snowed in carts need to be dug out.
  • Carts should be placed inside the opening of the driveway or walkway so they do not impede with traffic but are still reachable by our collection vehicles. A video on winter placement of carts can be found on curbitstjohns.ca.

The City will make all efforts to collect curbside waste this week using safe and appropriate means that match the conditions; please expect delays in your regular collection time.

Our plan is to collect curbside waste until the routes are completed; if that proves to be challenging, the City will make a further announcement on what residents should do at that time.

The Residential Drop Off at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility is open this week as regularly scheduled: Tuesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
