Who Says Black Cats are Unlucky? Not These Two Black Beauties

Robin and Hoodie, at the young age of five weeks are living proof that cats do indeed have nine lives.

They were brought to the City’s Humane Services on Monday morning after being discovered in the frame of a van that was in the process of being dismantled in preparation for crushing at the recycling centre.
 
The City has no idea how these black balls of fur ended up there but we suspect they were born in the area and the mother had been using the abandoned vehicle for shelter.
 
The kittens were quite dehydrated and underweight when they arrived but are improving daily. Both kittens are now available for adoption. 

“This is kitten season which is obvious in the amount of cats we have available just waiting to be adopted,” says Councillor Sheilagh O’Leary, Chair of the Animal Care and Control Committee. “If you’ve ever thought of adopting a cat or a kitten, there’s never been a better time to do it.”

We encourage you to visit us at the Humane Services shelter at 81 Higgins Line. The shelter is open Monday through Friday, 12 p.m., noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 3 to 5 p.m.
