We are very excited to bring you St. John’s first Soapbox Science event this year! There are far fewer women in leadership positions in STEM fields than men, with gender disparity being particularly wide in Newfoundland. We, Dr. Sarah Sauvé, Özgen Demirkaplan and Christina Prokopenko, are bringing Soapbox Science to Newfoundland to bring fantastic local women scientists to the spotlight, and bring you the latest cool science happening right here in the province!
At each event, three speakers will talk to you about their work, speak about their experiences as a woman in a STEM field and answer questions from the audience. We hope you have lots of questions for our speakers! You can either submit a question ahead of time by tagging @proko_eco on Twitter, using #soapboxscienceNL on Twitter or Facebook, or at the event itself. Let us know if your question is directed at a specific speaker or is for everyone.
Due to COVID-19, we are hosting these events on Zoom. We of course encourage you to attend all three if you can! Please register for all events you would like to attend. All registered participants will receive an invitation to the Zoom meeting within 24h of the event itself.
