Downtown Snow Removal during SEO

Location:
streets: Water, Duckworth, Harbour Drive, New Gower, Prescott, Cochrane, Bond, Gower
Start Date:
Sunday, January 19, 2020 - 7:00pm to Monday, January 20, 2020 - 9:00pm

Snow removal is currently taking place in downtown St. John’s, and will continue overnight into the morning hours of Monday, Jan. 20. Crews anticipate completing Water, Duckworth, Harbour Drive, and New Gower streets.

These roads are being cleared to provide temporary parking spaces so we can begin snow removal in downtown residential areas. At this time the City is clearing and removing snow from roads only.

Once the core downtown streets are cleared overnight, during the daytime on Monday, Jan. 20 City plows will begin snow removal first on Prescott and Cochrane; once those are complete moving on to Bond and Gower.

To effectively remove snow, parked cars must be moved. Owners of vehicles parked on Bond, Gower, Prescott and Cochrane are urged to clean and remove their vehicles during the morning of Monday, Jan. 20.

These vehicles can temporarily park on the streets that will be cleared overnight: Water, Duckworth, Harbour Drive and New Gower.

Additional downtown residential streets will be added as snow removal operations progress. This will be communicated through an update to this public advisory and the City’s social media feeds.

The City appreciates the support and cooperation of vehicle owners in the downtown.
