Traffic Detour - Water Street

Phase three of the construction project to rehabilitate underground infrastructure on Water Street will begin on Monday April 6, 2020. Work will take place Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The following traffic restrictions are in effect starting on April 6 (see attached map):

• Eastbound traffic on Water Street from Bishop’s Cove to Clift’s-Baird’s Cove is converted to one-way only for the duration of the project
• Westbound traffic is detoured to Harbour drive at Clift’s-Baird’s Cove
• McBride’s Hill is closed to vehicle traffic, pedestrian access will be maintained
• Ayre’s Cove is closed to traffic, local access only
• No right turn for traffic exiting George Street to Water Street
• Parking is limited in the construction zone from Ayre’s Cove to Clift’s-Baird’s Cove
• Metrobus stops in the construction area are temporarily relocated 

As with any underground construction project there are many variables that can impact the timeline. The contractor is committed to working as quickly as possible to complete phase three by June 30.
