Cancelled - Public Hearing - 430 Water Street

No submissions were received by the deadline date. Therefore, in accordance with the Urban and Rural Planning Act, the public hearing was cancelled.

The St. John’s Council adopted St. John’s Municipal Plan Amendment Number 114, 2013 and St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 575, 2013 at its regular meeting on Sept. 3, 2013 and hereby gives notice of its intent to seek registration of the amendments from the Minister of Municipal Affairs in accordance with the Urban and Rural Planning Act, 2000.

The purpose of the amendments would be to modify the Commercial Downtown Land Use District and the Commercial Central Mixed-Use (CCM) Zone to increase the allowable building height from four storeys to six storeys (21.6 metres high) at civic number 430 Water Street and will not require a setback for the upper storeys.

These amendments are in reference to an application by Stantec Architecture Ltd., on behalf of the MundRe Group, to develop a six storey office building extension on the rear of the existing three storey office building at 430-436 Water Street. The proposed amendments are site-specific and would apply only to this application site.

A Public Hearing  is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, 7 p.m. in Conference Room ‘A’, fourth floor, City Hall. The Public Hearing will be conducted by an Independent Commissioner appointed by Council. Any person wishing to make a submission on the proposed amendments must provide a signed written statement to the Office of the City Clerk by 4:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, either by mail: P.O.
