Cancelled - Public Hearing - Ruby Line At Southlands Boulevard

No submissions were received by the deadline date. Therefore, in accordance with the Urban and Rural Planning Act, the public hearing was cancelled.

St. John’s Council adopted St. John’s Municipal Plan Amendment Number 110, 2013 and the St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 559, 2013 at its regular meeting held on June 25, 2013 and hereby gives notice of its intent to seek registration of the amendments from the Minister of Municipal Affairs in accordance with the Urban and Rural Planning Act.

The effect of the St. John’s Municipal Plan Amendment Number 110, 2013 would be to re-designate land located adjacent to the intersection of Ruby Line at Southlands Boulevard from the Commercial General Land Use District to the Residential Medium Density Land Use District and the Residential High Density Land Use District.

The effect of the St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 559, 2013 would be to rezone land located adjacent to the intersection of Ruby Line at Southlands Boulevard from the Commercial Office Hotel (COH) Zone to the Residential Medium Density Zone (R2), Apartment Medium Density (A2) Zone and the Open Space (O) Zone.

These amendments are in reference to an application submitted to the City of St. John’s by Reardon Construction and Development Ltd. to rezone the subject property in order to allow the construction of 55 townhouses and a four-storey, 48-unit residential condominium development, all aimed at seniors.

The Public Hearing will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, 7 p.m. in the Foran/Greene Room, fourth floor, City Hall. The Public Hearing will be conducted by an independent Commissioner appointed by Council. Any person wishing to make a submission on the proposed amendments must provide a signed written statement to the City Clerk’s Department by 4:30 p.m., Friday, July 26, 2013, either by mail: P.O. If no written objections to the amendments are received by the deadline noted, the public hearing for these amendments may be cancelled by the City in accordance with the provisions of the Urban and Rural Planning Act.
