Proposed Text Amendments to the
St. John’s Development Regulations

The St. John’s Municipal Council is considering adopting three text amendments to the St. John’s Development Regulations and wishes to provide an opportunity for public review and comment on the proposed amendments. The three proposed amendments deal with the following matters:

  1. To repeal all references to “Reduced Lot Housing” currently contained in the St. John’s Development Regulations.
  2. To introduce “Vehicle Storage Yards” as a Discretionary Use in the Rural (R) Zone.
  3. To introduce a fee to establish a municipal Tree Planting Program in respect of the development of new residential building lots. The text amendment would provide that the tree planting fee would apply to any subdivision of property undertaken to create new residential building lots.

Enquiries on the amendments may be made to the City’s Department of Planning at (709)-576-8220 or by E-mail: planning@stjohns.ca.

The proposed text amendments will be referred for consideration of adoption to Council’s Regular Meeting to be held on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013. Written representation on the proposed amendments should be referred to City Clerk’s Department by 12 p.m., (noon), Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 in any of the following ways: (by mail: City Clerk’s Department, City of St. John’s, P.O.
