Public Hearing - 4 Oxen Pond Road

The St. John’s Municipal Council adopted St. John’s Municipal Plan Amendment Number 117, 2013 and the St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 581, 2013 at its regular meeting held on September 23, 2013 and hereby gives notice of its intent to seek registration of the amendments from the Minister of Municipal Affairs in accordance with the Urban and Rural Planning Act.

The effect of the St. John’s Municipal Plan Amendment Number 117, 2013 would be to re-designate land located at civic number 4 Oxen Pond Road from the Residential Low Density Land Use District to the Commercial General Land Use District.

The effect of the St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 581, 2013 would be to rezone land located at civic number 4 Oxen Pond Road from the Residential Low Density (R1) Zone to the Commercial Neighbourhood (CN) Zone.

The amendments are in reference to an application submitted to the City of St. John’s by Management Unlimited Inc. to allow the existing dwelling to be converted into office space for the neighbouring Don Cherry’s restaurant. A Public Hearing  is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, 7 p.m. in the Conference Room ‘A’, fourth floor, City Hall. The Public Hearing will be conducted by an independent Commissioner appointed by Council. Any person wishing to make a submission on the proposed amendments must provide a signed written statement to the Office of the City Clerk by 4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, either by mail: P.O. Written submissions received will become a matter of public record. If no written objections to the amendments are received by the deadline noted, the public hearing for these amendments may be cancelled by the City in accordance with the provisions of the Urban and Rural Planning Act.
