Rezoning Glencrest

The City of  St. John’s is considering an application from KMK Capital Inc. to rezone four parcels of undeveloped land, west of the Southlands subdivision. At this time all land is zoned Comprehensive Development Area – Southlands, which supports future urban development. The applicant is proposing to rezone land to the following zones:

  • 97.09 acres to the Commercial Regional (CR) Zone along the future Southlands Boulevard Extension
  • 20.84 acres to the Apartment Medium Density (A2) Zone along the future Southlands Boulevard Extension
  • 30.99 acres to the Residential Low Density (R1) Zone along the future Southlands Boulevard Extension 
  • 87.32 acres to the Industrial General (IG) Zone along the Trans-Canada Highway

The purpose of the rezoning is for the proposed Glencrest Development. KMK Capital Inc. is not seeking any form of development approval at this time.This rezoning application may be viewed at the Department of Planning, Third Floor, St. John’s City Hall Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., phone (709) 576-8430, or E-mail: planning@stjohns.ca

Any person wishing to make a submission on this rezoning application must provide a signed written statement to the City Clerk’s Department by Noon, Thursday, May 2, 2013, either by mail: P.O. Box 908, St. John’s, NL A1C 5M2; Fax: (709)576-8474 or E-mail: cityclerk@stjohns.ca.  Written submissions received will become a matter of public record and will be included in the Agenda for the Regular Meeting of Council on Monday, May 6, 2013, at which time Council is scheduled to make a decision on this rezoning application.

In accordance with the City’s policy on public notification, properties within a radius of 150 metres of the application site are notified in writing by the City of this application. Notices are sent to property owners and not tenants. If you own but do not live at the property identified to receive this notice, we ask that you forward this notice to any tenants which you may have. Property ownership information is based on the City’s assessment roll.
