Elected Officials and Those Who Ran for Council

The St. John's Municipal Government was established in 1888 with the first election held Aug. 30, 1888. It was not until June 19, 1902 that the City elected its first Mayor. St. John's was incorporated as a City in 1921 with the passing of the City of St. John's Act.

This is an alphabetical listing of elected members of Council and their terms of office, covering the period 1888 to 2013.  It also contains a partial listing of people who unsucessfully ran for a position on Council.
