BOTANICAL GARDEN

Memorial University's Botanical Garden is located near the heart of St. John's. It is unusual in its dual purposes of botanical garden and natural reserve. The flower gardens include a rock garden, peat and woodland beds, cottage garden, perennial garden, rhododendrons, a display of Newfoundland heritage plants and much more.  Five nature trails meander through a 110 acre managed natural reserve. The trails are wood chip covered and display a large variety of Newfoundland plants growing in native Newfoundland habitats including wetlands (bog and fen), freshwater (Oxen Pond), boreal forest, and Newfoundland barrens.
