City Plans New Year's Eve Celebrations

Fireworks over Quidi Vidi Lake

Join the City of St. John’s on Dec. 31 as we are the first City to welcome the arrival of New Year 2013 to North America in a family celebration at Quidi Vidi Lake.

“The City is going to welcome 2013 with a bang on New Year’s Eve,” says Ward 3 Councillor Bruce Tilley, Chair of the Economic Development and Tourism Standing Committee. “The fireworks and festivities at Quidi Vidi Lake are a great way to celebrate the arrival of 2013 and I encourage residents to come on down and take part in the celebrations in person.”

In addition to the fireworks display at midnight, a music broadcast at 10:30 p.m. with a countdown to midnight will be provided by OZFM at the Learning Bandstand. For those of you at home, be sure to watch NTV for a live broadcast of the fireworks display at midnight.

Should weather conditions not be ideal, the fireworks will be rescheduled for Jan. 1 at 8 p.m.

Special thanks to our sponsors OZFM and NTV, as well as the support of the City’s Special Events Advisory Committee.
