Expansion of the St. John’s Convention Centre is well under way and residents can watch the construction live via a webcam, and pictures in a photo gallery, on the City's website.

“St. John’s has become a popular location with convention and meeting organizers. With the expansion currently taking place we expect to double the number of large meetings and conventions the centre holds,” says Councillor Sandy Hickman, City Council Liaison on the Convention Centre Project Committee. “The live web camera focused on the centre expansion provides the public a real-time, high quality viewing of the work in progress.”

The steel superstructure is beginning to be put in place this week; that work is expected to continue for eight to 10 weeks.

Construction on the new St. John's Convention Centre is on schedule for completion in December 2015. The St. John’s Convention Centre is governed by St. John’s Sports and Entertainment, which also operates the Mile One Centre.
