New Year's City Schedule

Residents are advised that due to the New Year’s holiday all City offices are closed on Monday, Dec. 31 at 12 p.m. and closed for the full day on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. Offices will reopen on Jan. 2, 2013. Council will resume its meetings in the new year on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013.

Recreation Facilities
On Monday, Dec. 31, all recreation facilities will be closed with the exception of the H.G.R. Mews Community Centre and Wedgewood Park Recreation Centre which will remain open from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. On Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 all City of St. John’s recreation facilities will be closed for the day due to the New Year’s holiday.

Parking
Parking meter regulations will be enforced on Monday, Dec. 31 until 12 p.m. Parking Meter Regulations will not be enforced on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 as it is an observed holiday under the Provincial Shop Closing Act.

Garbage and Recycling Collection
There are changes to the garbage and recycling collection schedule for the holiday season.

Monday, Dec. 31 - Garbage collection for areas 1A and 1B, and recycling collection for area 1B.
Tuesday, Jan. 1 - No collection
Wednesday, Jan. 2 - Garbage collection for areas 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B, and recycling collection for areas 2B and 3B.
Thursday, Jan. 3 - Garbage collection for areas 4A and 4B, and recycling collection for area 4B.
Friday, Jan. 4 - Garbage collection for areas 5A and 5B, and recycling collection for area 5B.

Residents are reminded that garbage and recyclables are not permitted to be put out for collection before 6 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.

Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility
The Residential Drop-Off at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility will be closed on Monday, Dec, 31, as it is regularly closed on Mondays, and closed on Jan. 1, 2013 for the New Year’s holiday.

The landfill at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for commercial users only on Monday, Dec. 31. The landfill is closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, reopening on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Business and Visitor Information Centres
The City’s Business and Visitor Information Centres at 348 Water Street will be open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Dec. 31. The centres are closed Jan. 1, 2013 for the New Year’s holiday.

The Quidi Vidi Village Plantation is closed during the holiday season. The Planation will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 3 at 10 a.m. For more information please go to quidividivillageplantation.com.

Humane Services Adoption Centre
The Humane Services Adoption Centre on Higgins Line is closed over the holiday season from Dec. 31 to Jan. 1, 2013.

Access St. John’s
The Access St. John’s Client Service Centre on the first floor of City Hall will close for the New Year’s holiday on Dec. 31 at 12 p.m. and reopen on Jan. 2, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. The Access St. John’s Call Centre is always open and residents with questions or concerns can call 311 or (709) 754-2489 at any time.
