Public Drinking Not Tolerated

Thursday, February 13, 2014 - 4:00 PM

The City of St. John’s is proud to provide safe and enjoyable family-oriented spaces for our residents. Public drinking and disorderly behaviour are not tolerated in our facilities.

A video currently circulating on the internet shows a man at the Bannerman Loop who appears to be drinking and then skates scantily clad in the presence of families, including small children.

“This is a disgraceful display of indecency and immaturity,” said Mayor Dennis O’Keefe. “I am disappointed in this behaviour, particularly at a location that is meant to be enjoyed by families.”

The City has directed the video to the attention of the RNC.

The public are encouraged to contact the RNC if they observe behaviour they believe may be illegal, including the consumption of alcohol in public spaces.
