Councillor Jim Darcy, Mayor of Waterford, Ireland

On the occasion of Ireland's national day, the Feast of St. Patrick, it is my great pleasure on behalf of your twin city of Waterford, to convey to the citizens of St. John's, greetings from Waterford, Ireland. Our City twinning reflects the historical connection and migration between South-East Ireland and St. John's, Newfoundland between the period of 1760 to 1830.

We in Waterford City and County will hold a Power Clan Gathering at Dunhill Castle, County Waterford, the birthplace of all Powers, from May 31 to June 4, 2013. We are delighted to invite all Powers from Newfoundland and Labrador to visit during this time and share in the festivities.

Our council looks forward to leading a contingent from South-East Ireland to St. John's next September to renew the Newfoundland and Labrador Irish Connections. May the link between St. John’s and Waterford continue to grow.

I wish you all the blessings of St. Patrick's Day.
