Canada Day/ Memorial Day Traffic Advisories

The following road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect on Tuesday July 1st, 2014 for Canada Day/Memorial Day activities:
 
Sunrise Ceremony

  • Signal Hill Road - closed from 3:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
  • Parking and shuttle service available from the Parks Canada Interpretation Center and the Johnson Geo Center Parking Lots starting at 4:00 a.m.

 
Memorial Day Parade and Service

ROAD CLOSURES 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

  • Queen’s Road - Church Hill to Cathedral Street - closed 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
  • Church Hill - closed 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
  • Duckworth Street - Church Hill to Prescott Street - closed 10:15 to 10:45 a.m.
  • Duckworth Street - Prescott Street to Cochrane Street - closed 10:30 to 12:30 p.m.
  • Water Street - Prescott Street to Cochrane Street - closed 10:00 to 12:30 p.m.
  • Water Street - Prescott Street to Adelaide Street - closed 12:00 to 12:30 p.m.

 
NO PARKING – TOW AWAY 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 pm

  • Duckworth Street - Holloway Street to Kings Road
  • Water Street - Prescott Street to Cochrane Street

 
Canada Day Celebrations at Confederation Hill

  • Prince Philip Drive - Portugal Cove Road to Allandale Road  closed 12 noon to 6 p.m.
  • Parking will be available in the Confederation Building parking lot which can be accessed via the Allandale Road entrance.

 
Fireworks at Quidi Vidi (Raindate:  Wednesday July 2nd)                                                                          
 
ROAD CLOSURES 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

  • The Boulevard
  • Legion Road
  • Lake Avenue
  • Carnell Drive
  • Clancey Drive
  • Lakeview Avenue
  • Kings Bridge Road – Empire Avenue to The Boulevard - closed from 9:30 to 11:00 pm

 
NO STOPPING/PARKING – TOW AWAY 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m

  • The Boulevard – both sides
  • Churchill Avenue - south side
  • Legion Road -both sides
  • Lake Avenue - both sides

PLEASE NOTE:
Both of the public parking lots on the south side of The Boulevard will be closed because they are  in the fall out zone for the fireworks.
Vehicles parked in violation or parked such that they are obstructing traffic will be ticketed and towed.
Parking will be available on a first come first served basis in the Dominion Parking Lot for persons with Mobility Impaired Parking Permits.
Motorists are asked to use extreme caution when driving on any of the streets surrounding Quidi Vidi Lake as there will be many pedestrians in the area.  Pedestrians are encouraged to wear brightly coloured clothing and exercise caution when crossing the street.
