Portugal Cove Road Water Transmission Replacement Project

Tuesday, July 11, 2017 - 11:30 AM

An upcoming watermain rehabilitation project is scheduled to begin on Portugal Cove Road during summer 2017.

In response to significant water main breaks along Portugal Cove Road, which caused property damage and flooding, the City has committed to replacing the watermain in this area. The existing watermain is the original 100 year old watermain that connects Windsor Lake to the downtown area of the City. The current phase of work, Phase 2, is along Portugal Cove Road from New Cove Road to First Avenue.

Tendering will take place in the next two to three weeks; construction hours will be finalized after tendering. Motor vehicle and pedestrian access will be impacted in the construction zones with flagpersons in place. Updates regarding exact dates for start of construction will be provided on the City’s website. To keep informed of the city’s traffic advisories please sign up for e-updates at stjohns.ca.
