Discovery Day City Schedule

Residents are advised that due to the Discovery Day holiday on Monday, June 24, City offices are closed. The regularly scheduled City Council meeting will now take place on Tuesday, June 25.

Recreation Facilities
On Monday, June 24, the H.G.R. Mews Community Centre and Wedgewood Park Recreation Centre will be open for the day. The Shea Heights Community Centre, Kilbride Lion’s Community Centre and the St. John’s Recreation Centre will be closed. 

Parking
The City of St. John's will enforce the Parking Meter Regulations on Monday, June 24 as the Discovery Day holiday is not an observed holiday under the Provincial Shop Closing Act. Don’t forget to properly activate your parking meter.

Garbage and Recycling Collection
Garbage and recycling collection is unaffected by the Discovery Day holiday on Monday, June 24. Residents are reminded there will be regular garbage (areas 1A and 1B) and recycling (1A) collection during this time. Garbage and recyclables are not permitted to be put out for collection before 6 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility
The Residential Drop-Off at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility is closed on Monday, June 24 as it is regularly closed on Mondays.

The landfill at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility is unaffected by the Discovery Day holiday and is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Humane Services
The Humane Services Shelter on 81 Higgins Line will be closed for the Discovery Day holiday on Monday, June 24. In the case of an animal related emergency please contact Access St. John’s at 311 or (709) 754-CITY (2489).

Visitor Information Centre
The City’s Visitor Information Centre at 348 Water Street is open for the Discovery Day holiday on Monday, June 24 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Access St. John’s Call Centre
The Access St. John’s Call Centre is always open and residents with questions or concerns can call 311 of (709) 754-CITY (2489).
