Road Closure - Mayor Avenue

To facilitate the installation of the new watermain, Mayor Avenue from Freshwater Road to Merrymeeting Road, will be closed to through traffic daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for approximately four weeks. During the street closure Mayor Avenue will be restricted to local access only, through traffic will be detoured via the adjacent street network. Motorists are kindly asked to follow the posted detour signage.

This water transmission main replacement was started in late fall 2013 and has now resumed. Council has committed a total of $7.8 million for the replacement of the water transmission mains along Allandale Road, Bonaventure Avenue and Mayor Avenue. Phase 1 is being completed by RJG Construction Limited, and will continue until early summer 2014. Phase 2 of this project will extend along Allandale Road from Prince Phillip Drive to Elizabeth Avenue, will be tendered this coming summer.
