Public Hearing - 16 Francis Street
A Public Hearing will be held at St. John’s City Hall to provide an opportunity for public review and comment on a proposed Municipal Plan and zoning amendment and residential development proposal located at 16 Francis Street, that straddles the municipal boundary of the City of St. John’s and the City of Mount Pearl.
The eastern portion of the subject property resides in the City of St John’s. The St. John’s City Council is considering a proposed rezoning from the Residential Low Density (R1) Zone to Apartment Medium Density (A2) Zone to allow a six storey residential condominium building with 96 units. Only the eastern portion of the development rests within the municipal boundary of the City of St. John’s. A Municipal Plan amendment requires this public hearing which is chaired by an independent commissioner.
The western portion of the subject property resides in the City of Mount Pearl. This property has been rezoned to allow an increase in height from the permitted 3 storeys to 6 storeys to accommodate the proposed development. A Public Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Mar. 4, 2014, 7 p.m. in the Foran/Greene Room, fourth Floor, City Hall. The Public Hearing will be conducted by an independent Commissioner appointed by Council. Any person wishing to make a submission on the proposed amendments must provide a signed written statement to the Office of the City Clerk by 4:30 pm, Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, either by mail: P.O. If no written objections to the amendments are received by the deadline noted, the public hearing for these amendments may be cancelled by the City in accordance with the provisions of the Urban and Rural Planning Act.
