Councillor Bernard Davis and Deputy Mayor Ron Ellsworth present the Building Healthy Communities volunteer award to Bower and Wes Isaacs, the grandchildren of award winner the late Harold Druken Senior.

Today, over 100 volunteers attended the Annual Volunteer Week reception at Admirals Green Pippy Park Golf Club, an annual event hosted the City of St. John’s in partnership with the Memorial University Student Volunteer Bureau. Yesterday, the City and the University offered a Volunteer Awareness Session at Memorial University’s Landing. Numerous volunteers attended the event which featured a motivational presentation lead by Mike Wahl PhD (c).

“Showing appreciation and support to the individuals who give of their own time to support the community is of upmost importance,” said Deputy Mayor Ron Ellsworth. “Our City would not be where it is today without the dedicated support of volunteers, and for that we are very grateful.”

The Building Healthy Communities Volunteer Recognition Award is presented annually to an individual or group in St. John’s who are helping to create vibrant communities and enhance the quality of life for citizens through delivering leisure programs and services in a volunteer capacity.
