Blackmarsh Road Construction Starting in October

The City of St. John’s is reconfiguring Blackmarsh Road west of Jensen Camp Road to Captain Whelan Drive. Construction will begin in October and is scheduled to be completed by the end of November. This roadway improvement project is in coordination with the extension of the Team Gushue Highway and the planned roundabout for Blackmarsh Road and Empire Avenue access.

Significant changes will be made to the existing intersections of Welland Street, Blackmarsh Road and Captain Whelan Drive. The multi-use trail along the south side of Captain Whelan Drive will be extended. See map for details.

Motor vehicle traffic and pedestrian access will be maintained during construction. The City will make every effort to minimize interruptions and to maintain traffic flow, especially during peak rush hour. We ask the public to obey and follow all posted signage in and near the construction zone.
