Canada Day and Memorial Day City Schedule
Due to the Canada Day and Memorial Day holiday on Monday, July 1, most City offices and facilities will be closed.
Please note the following:
- Garbage and recycling will not be picked up on Monday; please see schedule below.
- Visitor Information Services at the Welcome Centre at 348 Water Street will be open on Monday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Parking meter regulations will not be enforced, Monday is a Shops Closing holiday.
- The outdoor pools at Bannerman Park and Bowring Park will be open starting on Tuesday, July 2; the splash pads at both parks are now in operation 9 a.m. to dusk, daily. We expect the Kenmount Terrace Splash Pad will open during the week of July 8. Pool schedules are available online.
Memorial Day Parade and Service
The Royal Canadian Legion Newfoundland and Labrador Memorial Day Parade will begin at the Sergeants’ Memorial on Queens Road at 9:50 a.m. The Memorial Day ceremony takes places at 10:45 a.m. at the National War Memorial. For more information about the ceremony please contact Provincial Command by calling 753-6666.
Road Closures and No Stopping - Tow Away Zones
For safety reasons there will be multiple road closures and no stopping zones throughout the City to facilitate Memorial Day and Canada Day events. Traffic advisories are posted on the City’s website, or you can sign up for e-Updates.
